Cabaret duet
It's happened! t.A.T.u. premiered their new video on YouTube. The electro track "220" turned out to be not just powerful, but also very sexy! Here comes the exclusive story from Los Angeles especially for BRAVO.

The girls kept the concept as well as the style of the video secret for a long time. They answered all questions with a mysterious smile and only one sentence: "It will be the most colorful of t.A.T.u. videos." Finally the mystery became clear. The video is ready. And they didn't shoot it just anywhere, but in one of Los Angeles' film studios! Everything was upside down on the set: stylists carrying around retro costumes for the soloists, that remind us of the time of the "Cabaret" movie with Lisa Minelli, scene-shifters installing specially built decorations in art-deco style, stage directors making last minute corrections to the choreography, thought up for the video by well-known Hollywood choreographer Shotyme. In general, it wasn't just a working atmosphere, but totally crazy one!

By the second day of rehearsals, Lena, who had been dancing on high heels, happened to seriously hurt her feet. And the girls had yet rehearsals and a whole shooting day in front of them. Therefore Lena was forced to rehearse in sneakers part of the time. However, this didn't really help. At the end of the shooting day a doctor was called to the set especially for her service. He put a specific bandage around her corns.

This is the first time Lena and Yulia dance in their own video since the beginning of the group nine years ago. The girls had to survive three full days of tiresome rehearsals with the inexhaustible Shotyme in order to shoot several successful takes. Eventually the video was shot in less than one day, which is a record time for the group! "We shot a very beautiful video. If "Beliy Plaschik" is a piece of work that sets the mood of our upcoming album ("Upravleniye Otbrosami"- BRAVO), serious, deep and controversial, then "220" is the exact opposite! I think that nobody expects something like this from us!" - says Yulia. "And I think that after the uncensored version of Beliy Plaschik, everything can be expected from us!" Lena adds with a smile.

The idea of the design of "220" - the set in "art-deco" style - was worked on for about two weeks and building of the set took another six days. Specially for this shooting, the video stylists brought vintage corsets, hats and gloves from Hollywood costume warehouses. All in all, the team worked really hard on this stylish video. "A few years ago we had a very beautiful photo shoot - a kind of "vintage glamour" - for a magazine - remembers Lena - we wore corsets and canes, and while brainstorming for the new video for "220" someone remembered this photo shoot, which was really beautiful! And most importantly, unusual!" Yulia interrupts as always: "All in all, we decided all together, that in the new video we should be exactly like that... you know... real beauties!"

Finally we decided to ask why the main characters in "220" are small animals again. Everyone remembers the song "Obezyanka Nol" and the song about squirrels (Belochka). The first line of "220" goes like this: "Bunnies on the wall die after the sunset". "Yes, we simply like it this way! And then again, here it's about different "zaichiki" (bunnies), sun beams, electrical. It's for variety!" - the girls say while laughing loud.

In the beginning of March the girls spent two weeks in Los Angeles, where the shooting of the video took place.
As Yulia admitted later, the microphone put some indecent associations in her mind.
Of course Lena isn't as naughty as her friend :)
They can find a job in cabaret after such a video!
